🇫🇷 An unforgettable week at SFCR 2026 in Marseille!

The congress was a great chance to meet the French spine community, share experiences, and learn about the newest advances in endoscopic spine surgery.

We want to thank Dr. Sébastien SCHULLER, Dr. Axel Walter, and Dr. Julien Tremlet for sharing their knowledge and supporting our work at the Endo Lab.

We were also delighted to celebrate a remarkable milestone: 10 years of endoscopic spine surgery at Clinique RHÉNA, led by Dr. Schuller and Dr. Walter. Congratulations on your continued contributions to the advancement of endoscopic spine surgery. 👏

The Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute (MOI) in Dar es Salaam serves as Tanzania’s leading referral center for orthopedics, trauma, and neurosurgery.

As a COSECSA-accredited teaching institution, MOI has trained local and international students, residents, and fellows for over 26 years, establishing itself as a significant center for surgical education in East Africa.

In this context, we met with Dr. Laurent Lemeri Mchome and the spine surgery team to discuss the future of endoscopic spine surgery in Tanzania. Dr. Mchome’s vision to integrate endoscopic spine surgery into training programs aims to equip future generations of surgeons with these skills and facilitate their dissemination throughout the region.

This approach aligns with our perspective that innovation encompasses not only technological advancement but also education, knowledge transfer, and the empowerment of healthcare professionals.

The potential impact extends beyond a single institution. Through MOI’s established educational networks, knowledge acquired in Dar es Salaam can benefit patients throughout Tanzania and East Africa.

The commitment demonstrated by the local Medpace team was also notable. Director Michael Scheuchzer’s direct involvement in these discussions reflects a strong dedication to long-term partnerships and medical education.

🇨🇱 A proud moment for #RIWOspine in Chile!

We were honored to celebrate the inauguration of the first RIWOspine Centre of Excellence at Clínica Santa María in Santiago, along with the launch of our first Intermediate Training Course in Chile.

We sincerely thank Clínica Santa María, especially Dr. Cristian Ugarte, Medical Director, and Dr. Cristián Santos, Head of the Spine Unit, for their vision, commitment, and leadership.

We are also grateful to our RIWOspine KOLs Dr. Ramón Torres, Dr. Rafael Sugino, and Dr. Felipe Fuentealba, as well as to the instructors Dr. Fernando Lira, Dr. Felipe Luna (Spine Unit, Clínica Santa María), and Dr. Cristian Correa (Clínica Las Condes) for sharing their expertise and contributing to the success of this important event.

🇮🇳 Two days, two groups of spine surgeons, and plenty of hands-on learning in Bangalore!

We are grateful to our local partner, Avana Surgical, for organizing a successful Full-Endoscopic Spine Surgery Workshop at MS Ramaiah Advanced Learning Center.

We enjoyed supporting surgeons who wanted to grow their knowledge and practical skills in endoscopic spine surgery through lectures, discussions, and hands-on training.

Thank you to all the faculty members, participants, and the @avana_surgical Surgical team for making this event such a success.

🇰🇪 Advancing Endoscopic Spine Surgery in Kenya

#RIWOspine was honored to join a key meeting at the Nairobi Spine & Orthopedic Center, where leading spine surgeons and the Endoscopic Spine Working Group discussed the future of full-endoscopic spine surgery in Kenya.

We would like to thank Dr. Moses Kimani, Dr. Beverly Jebet Cheserem, Dr. Mark Murerwa, Dr. Nganga, Dr. Wamutitu Maina, and Dr. Benjamin Ndeleva for the open discussions and shared vision around education, training, and international collaboration.

Representing RIWOspine, Marc Diamantidis participated on-site, while Dr. Jörn-André Horaczek joined remotely from Germany to share his clinical experience and educational initiatives supporting physicians from Africa.

The discussions highlighted the potential for future training opportunities, knowledge exchange, and the development of an RIWOspine Reference Center in Kenya.

Together, we are taking important steps to expand access to endoscopic spine surgery and strengthen expertise across the region.
